My name is AnneMarie, and I am a junior day student, class of 2015. This fall I ran cross-country and in the Spring, I am a member of the Varsity Softball team. I am also a Head Tour Guide here at Peddie, and have been a tour guide since I was a freshman. I really enjoy science, and am hoping to go to nursing school in a few years!
Since I’ve been at Peddie, I’ve been able to try so many new things that I never would have considered before. One of these things is sports. Before coming to Peddie I was NOT an athletic kid, in fact the most exercise I got was changing the channel on the TV. Entering my freshman year, I was DREADING the sports requirement (not unlike many new freshman). Fall term freshman year I joined the JV field hockey team, and I actually found out that it was a ton of fun. Not to mention I met two of my very best friends on that team. However this had not completely changed my mind on the whole sports thing, so spring term I tried out for the play to try and get out of more sports. I didn’t make it. So then I had to join the JV Softball team. This was the turning point for me. I had been playing softball most of my life, but never very seriously. Being on JV softball made me realize that I really loved the game, wanted to get better, and wanted play with people that could make me better. So I started training for Varsity. The summer after freshman year I did the unthinkable: I started running. This is when I discovered that I LOVED running (who would have thought). So ever since freshman year, I have been running and working out. Since then I have made the Varsity softball team, and joined the cross country team. Looking back on it, that darn sports requirement might be one of the best things that happened to me!
